Virtual groupshow hosted by Highsnobiety, curated by Anika Meier

BERLIN, AUGMENTED (2022)

Curation Anika Meier

Presented during a moment when physical spaces became inaccessible, *Berlin, Augmented* explored the possibility of an exhibition existing beyond the limits of location. Hosted by Highsnobiety, the project brought together artists working across sculpture, photography, performance, and conceptual practice within a shared augmented reality environment.

Rather than occupying a gallery, the exhibition unfolded across screens, devices, and urban space, questioning where an artwork begins and where it ultimately resides. Is art defined by its material presence, or by the attention directed towards it? Can a digital object possess the same cultural weight as a physical one? And what happens when public space becomes simultaneously real and virtual?

Emerging at a time of social distance and accelerated digitalisation, *Berlin, Augmented* reflected a broader shift in contemporary culture: from objects to experiences, from places to networks, from permanence to presence.

The exhibition proposed augmented reality not merely as a technological tool, but as a new framework through which reality itself could be negotiated, expanded, and reimagined.
