HOME FOR SUPPER, Frankfurt
A church of data, 2021
Home for Supper explores the growing overlap between technology, belief, and ritual.Centered around the figure of Mark Zuckerberg and borrowing the visual language of religious architecture, the work imagines a space in which connectivity has become a form of devotion and participation an act of faith.Positioned between satire and sincerity, Home for Supper reflects on the infrastructures, myths, and collective beliefs that shape contemporary digital life.
HOME FOR SUPPER
A church of data (2021)
"Home for supper" examines the growing overlap between technological infrastructure and religious experience. At its centre stands a monumental crucifixion of Mark Zuckerberg, positioned before rows of church pews equipped not with hymnals, but charging stations.
The installation proposes a space in which connectivity has become ritual, participation has become obligation, and data has assumed a role once occupied by belief. The architecture of the church remains intact, while its function has subtly shifted. Salvation is replaced by optimisation. Reflection gives way to engagement. Worship becomes interaction.
Rather than presenting technology as a tool, *Church of Data* approaches the platform as an institution — one that shapes behaviour, rewards devotion, and promises belonging while operating largely beyond visibility.
The work asks a simple question: if every era creates its own systems of faith, what do ours look like?
